We can confirm that our plans for the '3rd Penzance VR Revival & Vintage Bus Running Day' to be held at the Penzance bus station on Sunday 18 April 2010 are taking shape well with anexcellent entry of vehicles to hopefully appeal to the young and not so young! We hope to kick things off at 10am with trips departing from the bus station running throughout the day until about 4.30pm. We are delighted with the entries received and I can confirm that the vehicles listed in February 2010 news update are still promised! In addition to those mentioned previously, we have also received entries for ex Western National VR's, 1056(OTA 290G), 1121(VDV 121S), 1157(AFJ 764T) and 1200(LFJ 844W) together with Bristol SUL4A 420(270 KTA) with an appearance of WHOTTThe West Country Historic Omnibus & Transport Trust's Bristol LHBristol Commercial Vehicles Light Horizontal engined 3307(AFJ 727T) following restoration completed last summer. A 1950's Bristol MW is entered to join us from Bournmouth so if all these are able to attend, we are in for a good day.
With regard to the CBPG vehicles, I can advise that Bristol LH 716(MUO 328F) is now being put through her MOT and with a little bit of luck, we intend to have her running at Penzance. We have a few electrical issues with 1141(AFJ 706T) and some fuel pump matters with 1003(VDV 141S) but we are optimistic that these problems can be resolved and they will be at the running day! VR's 1226/38873(LFJ 873W) and 1147/38749(AFJ 749T) are stored and 'friends' have been fitting 'Autumn Gold' seats to the upper saloon of the latter. Our OlympianLeyland Olympian was a double-decker bus built by British Leyland/Leyland Bus in the United Kingdom from 1980 to 1993. 34754(A 754 VAF) is in running order as is our pink Vario which is proving to be a very usefull vehicle for moving 'friends' and fittings from vehicle to vehicle so look out for these two at Penzance.
I mentioned in October News that that our OlympianModels of double decker bus built by Leyland and Volvo: * Leyland Olympian * Volvo Olympian * Volvo Olympian (low-floor), also known as Volvo B9TL was not the only survivor of the original Westerrn National batch and that 34750 in open top form still survives. Could this bus be coming to the CBPG? Watch this space!
