CBPS news update for August 2011

We do not have a great deal to update you with this month as the vehicle situation remains as mentioned before. Our fleet is still stored at three different sites and two of these sites are not really suitable for working on the vehicles. So if anyone out there knows of a suitable large shed or barn with good access to the road for a 'peppercorn' rent, lets us know please.

On Sunday 14 August 2011, a group of us attended the Brislington Bus Rally on the outskirts of Bristol. We travelled there and back on WHOTTThe West Country Historic Omnibus & Transport Trust's Bristol RELH 1460 (OTA 632G) which gave us a very comfortable trip. She was very much at home here with all the other Bristol's on site but especially as she was manufactured at the Bristol bus factory, which was located across the road, back in 1969. There were many free trips to various locations including Bath on a variety of vehicles including many from the London area so most peoples interests were accommodated.

Our Bristol VRBristol VR was Bristol's rear-engined bus chassis, designed as a competitor to the Leyland Atlantean and Daimler Fleetline. 1003 (VDV 141S) was recently at the West of England Steam Rally at Stithians where the organisers used her near the main ring as a commentary position which obviously raised her 'profile' somewhat!

On the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend, the Helston to the Lizard vintage vehicle run will take place with cars, motorbikes, tractors, lorries and even the odd bus making the trip to the Lizard green. Well worth supporting this annual event.
